Contact Lenses that Go Beyond the Standard

Many people find standard contact lenses challenging to fit properly and comfortably. If you have worn contacts in the past and found them uncomfortable, or have presbyopia, an irregularly-shaped cornea, or dry eyes, you may find specialty lenses a better fit.

Our specialty contact lenses include scleral lenses, multifocals, and myopia control lenses, each specially designed for a specific purpose and customized to you.

If you are interested to learn if contact lenses may be an option for you, contact us to book an appointment today.

Contact Lens Exams & Fittings

Similar to our regular contact lens exams and fittings, fitting specialty contact lenses begins with an in-depth exam that evaluates your contact lens prescription and takes measurements of your eyes.

We use an auto keratometer to measure the curve of your cornea so we can precisely design your new lenses.

Scleral Contact Lenses

Scleral contact lenses are specially designed to sit on the whites of your eyes (the sclera) and vault over your cornea. They can be a great option for individuals who have struggled to wear contacts due to the shape of their cornea.

Scleral contact lenses are also a good option for those who struggle with dry eyes. The lenses have a space between the eye and the lenses that you fill with saline, which keeps your eye moist and hydrated throughout the day.

At Rivier City Vision Center, we fit ABB Delta Scleral lenses, which are highly customizable based on our patients’ eyes. If you’re interested in learning more about scleral lenses, book an appointment and we’ll discuss if these contacts are right for you.

MiSight Contact Lenses

For our younger patients experiencing nearsightedness, MiSight 1 day contact lenses may be a good fit. Specifically designed to slow the progression of myopia in children, MiSight lenses are soft, daily disposable contacts that children as young as 8 can insert independently.

MiSight 1 day lenses are a good option for nearsighted children and teens who would prefer contact lenses to glasses for their vision correction and myopia management.

Our Other Contact Lenses

Beyond scleral and myopia control contacts, we also fit other specialty contact lenses designed for vision problems such as presbyopia, astigmatism, and digital eye strain.

Some of the lenses we fit include:

  • Acuvue Oasys Max 1-Day: Daily contacts with TearStableTM Technology to retain moisture and OptiBlue Light Filter to reduce eye strain from screen use.
  • Acuvue Oasys 1-Day for Astigmatism: Daily contacts that provide sharp, stable vision for those with astigmatism, and include Hydraluxe Technology to keep your eyes hydrated.
  • Bausch + Lomb INFUSE Multifocal: For those with presbyopia, multifocal contacts provide an alternative to progressive eyeglass lenses. These lenses provide smooth vision across near, intermediate, and far distances to eliminate the need for reading glasses.

Comfortable Contacts for All

Don’t let your prescription or astigmatism prevent you from experiencing the freedom and clear vision provided by contacts. Our optometrists are experienced in fitting custom, specialty lenses that keep your eyes hydrated and comfortable while keeping your vision sharp.
