Eye Exams

How often should I have an eye exam?

Most adults should have an eye exam at least once every year. We may recommend more frequent visits if you have diabetes, are at risk for eye disease, have a high lens prescription, or have had eye surgery. Children should have an eye exam at least once a year.

What happens during a comprehensive eye exam?

We evaluate your visual acuity, check for signs of eye diseases and conditions, and determine whether you need a prescription for glasses or contact lenses. We also look closely at the structures of your eye, including your retina, macula, optic nerve, lens, and cornea.

What technology do you use during eye exams?

Our exams include optical coherence tomography (OCT), Optomap retinal imaging, and both Goldmann applanation and non-contact tonometry. These tools help us detect potential problems in their early stages.

At what age do you start seeing children?

We start seeing children at 7 years old. A pediatric eye exam includes an eye health assessment and vision testing, and it can detect issues like myopia, astigmatism, strabismus, and amblyopia.

What are the signs my child may have a vision problem?

Common signs include squinting, regular headaches, head tilting, double vision, short attention spans, struggling with school assignments, and trouble playing sports. If you notice any of these, book an eye exam so we can find the cause.

Do you offer diabetic eye exams?

Yes. Diabetes can affect your eye health, so we offer diabetic eye exams at both locations and may recommend more frequent visits to monitor for changes.

Contact Lenses

Do I need a separate exam for contact lenses?

Yes. A contact lens exam and fitting determines whether you can wear contacts comfortably and which lenses suit your eyes. We measure your cornea with an auto keratometer to help your lenses fit properly.

What types of contact lenses do you offer?

We fit daily lenses, toric lenses for astigmatism, and multifocal lenses for presbyopia, including ACUVUE OASYS MAX 1-Day, ACUVUE OASYS 1-Day for Astigmatism, and Bausch + Lomb INFUSE Multifocal. We also carry lenses from Alcon and CooperVision. Learn more about our contact lens brands and fittings.

Do you fit specialty contact lenses?

Yes. We custom-fit scleral contact lenses, which have a wider diameter and rest on the white of your eye. We also offer multifocal lenses, specialty lenses for astigmatism and digital eye strain, and myopia control lenses for children. Explore our specialty contact lenses.

Can I wear contact lenses if I have dry eyes?

Often, yes. Dry eye, eye allergies, and frequent eye infections can affect how comfortably you wear contacts, but we can work with you to find a lens that provides clear, comfortable vision.

Can I order my contact lenses online?

Yes. If you need a refill of your current prescription, you can order your next supply through our Order Contacts page.

Dry Eye and Myopia Control

What are the symptoms of dry eye?

Common symptoms of dry eye include irritation, redness, watery eyes, blurry vision, light sensitivity, headaches, and glare or halos around lights. An eye exam can help us find what is causing your symptoms.

How do you treat dry eye?

Dry eye treatment depends on the cause. Options may include lifestyle changes, artificial tears, prescription eye drops like Xiidra and RESTASIS, and Rinsada, a quick, non-invasive in-office treatment that flushes debris, allergens, and inflammatory buildup from beneath the eyelids. For more, read What Are the Best Eye Drops for Dry Eyes? and Can Allergies Cause Dry Eyes?

What is myopia control?

Myopia control slows the progression of nearsightedness in children. We offer MiSight contact lenses, which can help slow myopia development by 50% in children. Managing myopia early can help lower the risk of related eye conditions later in life.
